Louis vs. the Power of the Burying Ground

Louis Creed struggles against the corrupting influence of the Micmac burying ground, which ultimately consumes him and his family.

First Encounter

The Journey Crossing the Deadfall Louis follows Jud over the deadfall and through Little God Swamp. He feels the strange power of the place—an exhilaration that is almost addictive. The Burial Louis buries Church and builds a cairn. He feels a sense of accomplishment. The place has already begun to affect him. Return Louis returns home, exhausted but strangely happy. He does not realize that the place has marked him.

Second Journey

Alone with the Power The Wendigo Louis encounters the Wendigo in Little God Swamp. He is terrified but presses on. The power of the place is stronger now. The Burial Louis buries Gage. He feels the same exhilaration, but it is darker. He knows he has done something terrible. Corruption Louis returns home with white hair. His sanity is shattered. The place has claimed him. He is now part of its cycle.
